Does your family have any particular Christmas traditions ?
For example we have a white christmas tree, because when I was little we couldn't afford a tree, so my Mother made one from the leftover white foam they used to line airconditoners where she worked. It's long gone, but the white tree reminds of of my Mother's sacrifices, there is also a fragment of old handmade paperchain.

We used to let my daughter open up one gift Christmas Eve and I'd make seafood chowder and a whole bunch of other small delicious things. The next morning we'd open up the rest of the gifts and I'd spend all day cooking and we'd have a very special dinner with things we normally wouldn't eat served that evening.
Now, it's all different. I think when my daughter went to college that's when things changed. I don't look forward to it anymore like I used to. No more seafood chowder, no more special dinner with the thing we normally don't have.
I'll have to start that up again I suppose.
