Am I doing this right ?
Okay so i'm trying to do exercises to get on pointe faster. I ordered the resistaband thingy and ball massager from Discount Dance Supply to help strengthen my ankles and legs. But other then that, i've been doing releves in every position, and clapping really fast every time i'm on my feet just like my instructor does, but when I do it all I feel is my lower leg muscles clenching.... does that means its working ?
I think it does. You can also try a few other stretches.
Do a plie, then a second or first position releve, then staying on releve bend your knees. you should feel stretchin on the top of your ankle. Then do a plie, lift your ankles so you are in the position you ended in last time. After stretching , do a releve and come down. You should also do this with your legs and feet tight against each other. That will help you to always center yourself on your feet in releve.
Another stretch is to do a tondue, then close it to the wrong side so your legs are crossed an do a plie. This should stretch the the muscle where the foot connects to the ankle.
